ST. PIRAN'S DAY CELEBRATION
MARCH 2, 2008

The public was invited to a St. Piran's day dinner and program at the Old Royal Inn in Mineral Point, Wisconsin on Sunday, March 2ND . There was a meal followed by a short program by Jim Jewell.

Jim spoke on the Celtic  celebrations of St. David's Day (Welsh--March 1st); St. Piran's Day (Cornish--March 5th) and St. Patrick's Day for the Irish on March 17th. Jim also shared research on the type of celebrations local ethnic groups observed in Iowa County before 1900.

Cornish Bard Marion Howard, from Darlington, provided musical entertainment and offerd up a Cornish story or two.

The dinner included Pasty, coleslaw, figgy hobbin and beverage.
